I think my 7970 is actually bricked. It does the Headset-Mute-Speaker flash, then the first line button turns orange, and then the phone resets. I made a console cable, and it seems to be dying with Kernel shutdown bugcode 0x91 . I can't find any information on this.

Hi,
I own a 7971G-GE and of course a Cisco Softnet Contract for 7971G-GE. It all worked with your description (except I had to change the ip from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.1.3 and port from 150 to 69), thank you for this . I have the SIP70.8-5-2SR1 version installed. After installing I had some problems as you noticed as "annoying little error in your config file" up there. My problem is; I can not change my SIP configuration via display menu. (phone is unlocked via "**#" ). That must be probably what you meant. I can highlight the menu, just like; Name-Shortname-Authentication name-Display Name-Proxy ddress etc., but I can NOT edit.
I do not use "XMLDefault.cnf.xml", I only use "SEP.cnf .xml" file with following codes.

 2000

	{Jan 01 2008 00:00:00}
	SIP70.8-5-2SR1S

	60

I think that' s the problem.

I' ll be appreciate that if you can you enlighten me to correct this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I can confirm that if you plug a bricked phone into a CM then it will come good. Have 2 x 7942G's that I bricked trying to load SIP. Brought them up on a CM and they came good (although they loaded SCCP).

You should also add instructions for the other factory reset procedures, one using the 123456789*0# process, and the other using the 3491672850*# process.
